Common questions

Do I pay anything for a brace after a car accident?

Usually not. With your doctor's prescription, we bill your auto insurance company directly under New York No-Fault. When the claim is accepted, you typically pay nothing out of pocket.

What if the accident was not my fault?

It does not matter who caused the accident. In New York, your own No-Fault coverage pays for your medical care first. If you were a passenger, the No-Fault coverage of the car you were in usually applies, and a pedestrian is usually covered by the car that hit them.

How long do I have to file a No-Fault claim?

File your No-Fault application with the insurance company within 30 days of the accident. Call us as soon as your doctor prescribes a brace so we can bill promptly.

What should my doctor's note say?

Your diagnosis, your symptoms, exam findings, why the brace is medically necessary, and that the injury is related to the car accident, with the date of the accident.

General information, not legal advice. Based on New York No-Fault (personal injury protection) rules. Your policy and claim decide what is covered.
